Daiso Etude Mascara Review: Affordable Beauty

Daiso Etude Mascara Review: Affordable Beauty with Mixed Results

Daiso Etudes are coming to Daiso!!!

Olive Young Sale always has the necessary items,
and when I go to see what’s out at Daiso,
I think I’ll buy two or three because!!!
The price is cheap!!!!

And because it’s made by the brand,
it’s reliable,
so it leads to quick purchase.

I want to recommend Daiso mascara.
I like the Play 101 mascara very much,
but the base cream is not a good review….

Curl Booster Base Cream: Disappointing Performance

Honestly, I think the hold and lasting power is okay,
but when I apply the Curl Booster Base Cream,
the curls made with the curler seem to come loose,
which is a little disappointing!

Product Choice: Edge Curl Tinted Mascara

I’m not a fan of thin brushes when it comes to mascaras
(I’m not a fan of natural ones),
but my local Daiso store was out of the Twist Mascara,
so I settled for the Edge Curl Tinted Mascara.

I’ve been buying the Edge Curl Booster Base Cream
that comes with it.

Because it contains fine fibers,
it feels like it holds the curl
while also lengthening lashes,
so I actually feel like it works!

If you’ve been using Etude for a long time,
you may know Dr. Mascara Fixer for Perfect Lash.

Isn’t it like this? Similar texture, isn’t it?
I purchased it thinking it would be similar,
but it wasn’t. TT

I’ll explain more below…

My Lash Situation: Thin and Short

Anyway, my eyelashes are…
I’m in Canada right now,
so I’ve got extensions,
but they told me that they’re shorter
in the front and in the back
because I’m a heavy curler user.

They’re not very thick,
they’re very thin.

Play 101 Edge Curl Booster Base Cream Review

Play 101 by Etude Edge Curl Booster Base Cream
Price: ₩5,000 (~$4)

It’s said to help with volume, curl, and long lashes.
It creates a coating that prevents smudging and curl sagging.

To apply, you can apply it before your mascara,
after your curler, and after your mascara.

I also put it on underneath
because I like fuller, slightly dramatic lashes,
and I think I overdid it a little bit

because it’s got fibers in it,
so I don’t know if that’s why
it’s loosening up the curl.

After applying only one side,
I applied mascara…
I wonder if it was because I applied more…
so it didn’t hold the curl…

Play 101 Edge Curl Tint Mascara: The Winner

Play 101 by Etude Edge Curl Tint Mascara Black
Price: ₩5,000 (~$4)

Actually, Daiso also sells a curling mascara for ₩2,000(~$1.5),
but I’ve been using Etude mascara for a while,
so I picked this one.

It curls naturally and very neatly.
I like natural and I like volumizing!!!

If you normally use volumizing mascara,
you’ll love it.

It’s a skinny mascara,
so I’m pretty happy with it

since I have thin lashes,
and the wand itself is fine for me,
and it’s easy to use for under lashes.

I also like that it’s waterproof…!

Side-by-Side Comparison: Base Cream vs. No Base Cream

I applied the curl booster base cream on this eye
and then applied the play 101 mascara?!

I applied a little more base cream,
so it felt unnecessarily… heavy…?!

But also, I didn’t apply it to my left eye,
but the curling is fine in this area…

I only apply the curl booster base cream occasionally
and don’t use it regularly,
and the mascara is really good.

Looking at it like this,
my left eye looks much better without the base cream…

I recommend Daiso mascara,
but I need to do a little more research
on how to apply the curl booster base cream.

Final Verdict: Mixed Recommendation

You can see why it’s between
Daiso mascara recommendation and non-recommendation.

If you’ve been using the Etude mascara
Dr. Mascara Fixer for Perfect Lash,
you know what I mean…!

I’m sorry, but I wonder if I’m applying too much,
and I wonder if I should use it every time,
but I don’t reach for it very often…

Play 101 mascara is used alone,
so I often go for it…
